The PE Department Rocks! Kudos to the PE Department who did an AMAZING job turning this year's Rock-n-Run into a charity fundraiser with ME Cares. For those of you who have not heard, they earned almost $4000 in student contributions. Combed earnings this week with ME Cares' other fundraising efforts this year, we have already surpassed last year's $6500 total!
I believe this is a throw down challenge to the other departments!

Thursday's Fun Continues

So...Dr. Pressler, how would you like to help the Junior Leaders with a fundraiser?

Sure! What do I need to do?

Not much. Just hang around with the students in the cafeteria for a while. We'll have someone come down to escort you

A special thanks to Dr. Pressler for being a good sport playing Han Solo and letting the students and staff encase him in carbonite (duct tape) for the Junior Leaders' Fundraiser. And yes, they pulled the stand out and left him hanging on the wall!

Click on the links to see the videos of Dr. Pressler's march into the cafeteria, and his eventual removal from the carbonite.

This year's Disney Homecoming is off to a great start, and students and staff alike got into the spirit and embraced this week's activities.

Student clubs and organizations showcased their talent and (competitive) spirit by decorating the hallways with their favorite Disney shows and characters. What a wonderful way to come together and have fun with your fellow classmates!

Wear you PJs Day has always been a favorite, but it's really hard to tell who enjoyed it more.

The students...

Or staff...

Homecoming Spirit wasn't just reserved for the big kids this week! Our preschoolers were really excited to participate in Monday's "Wear your PJs Day", and posed in front of The Lion King themed display in the band hallway.

Physical Education-Junior Leaders: The school year is off to a great start, and our current Junior Leader Program consists of 78 students. The focus of the Junior Leaders program is built around a leadership model which consists of the following principles.

Our first unit of instruction was team building;a unique opportunity for our students to build self-awareness, establish a communal trust among peers, and an understanding of their leadership potential through various team building tasks and challenges.

We capped our unit on Thursday, September 14, with a leadership teams course trip to the Barrington Park District. The Leaders brought all of their team spirit and energy to the outdoor teams course, and it was a full day of challenging and problem solving initiatives for the students. While the day was an amazing end to the unit, it also laid the ground work for what will be an amazing school year!
